Geoff grew up about a mile from Goodison Park in nearby Bootle in the early 1960s. He used to ask for the back kitchen door to be left ajar so he was able to hear the cheers and groans from the Everton crowd. When Liverpool were playing the door remained firmly shut! His first match was a 3-0 victory against Sunderland in the successful 1966 FA Cup run and he attended games regularly in the following years. Although lucky enough to have seen many successful teams such as the mid 80s teams under Howard Kendall his favourite time was and remains the teams over the years 1968 to 1970 with the magnificent midfield trio of Kendall the player, Alan Ball and Colin Harvey. Kendall was his favourite player followed by the short lived but explosive forward play of Alan Whittle (uncle of current player Tom Davies). Football is in his blood albeit distantly as 2 of his great uncles were professional footballers, one of them, Billy Blunt, was top goalscorer for Wolverhampton Wanderers a long long time ago! Geoff lives near Blackpool now but gets to the game at Goodison as often as he can. When not supporting or writing about his beloved Blues he is either walking his 2 Cyprus rescue dogs Grace and Doris or playing bass with his rock covers band SKRATCH or holidaying in the UK or Europe.
