90+6’ - There’s the final whistle, and it’s a sigh of relief as the Blues win the replay 1-0, bring on Luton Town in the FA Cup Fourth Round next.

90+5’ - Onana tackle results in a Blues throw-in. Can they see out the remaining sixty seconds?
McNeil loses the ball in a terrible position and Mateta has a scoring chance, but he’s offside, phew.

90+3’ - Now Everton can break as Palace commit players upfront and with four-on-two, Dobbins ball sends McNeil too wide and the chance is wasted.

90+2’ - Oh Virginia! Comes out to get it and spills the ball! It takes Branthwaite to hoof it clear, oh boy.

90’ - Six minutes added on! Everyone’s looking at each other wondering where the ref’s gotten that from.
Cleared off the line! Mateta shot on the turn, and the Blues can whack it away, whew.

87’ - Onana cuts out the ball and now Dobbin can counter, instead of heading for the corner and winding the clock down, he tries a shot from a poor angle and it’s out for a goal-kick.

86’ - Virginia will be booked for time-wasting on a goalkick.

83’ - Joachim Andersen mugs DCL once again, and once again the referee decides to turn a blind eye. Bizarre from ref Tony Harrington.
Now DCL fouls Andersen, and there’s argy-bargy between the pair before the Blues’ forward gets booked! Dyche decides enough is enough and sends on Beto for Calvert-Lewin.

79’ - Tarky to Onana, he finds McNeil and he tries to play in Dobbin, corner to the Blues.
Corner from one side, out the other. McNeil to take, Johnstone flaps at it and Andersen clears. Dobbin has a chance to head it in near the post but he wins another corner.
Garner takes, Branthwaite header, too much and it goes over.

75’ - Calvert-Lewin with a snap shot and it fizzes just wide. Good shot that.
Blues’ first sub of the evening is Lewis Dobbin, with Gomes coming off.

73’ - Harrison with a lovely run down the wing but dallies too long before playing in DCL and the danger is snuffed out.

71’ - Two more changes, with Edouard and Lerma going off, Mateta and Ozoh on now.

68’ - Save Virginia! Ahamada with a great run and set up Edouard for a shot that the goalie saves well, and then Patterson is fouled as he tries to clear the danger.

64’ - Triple sub for Hodgson, and Evertonians will no doubt be happy to see the back of Eze, who leaves the game along with Clyne and Mitchell, with Riedewald, Ahamada and França on.

62’ - Blues lucky again as Lerma’s finish is once again wayward. Clyne had set him up well but again his shot was wild.

61’ - McNeil has been mostly anonymous today, had a shooting chance to redeem himself but put it straight at Johnstone.

60’ - Harrison sets up Gomes in space, but the Everton midfielder doesn’t have the pace to get away from the two players on him.
Might be time for a change for the Blues here, really need some energy because they seem to be turtling now.

55’ - A well-timed challenge from Gomes keeps Palace from a shooting chance. The visitors have certainly stepped up their game.

50’ - Garner is down holding his upper leg. Looks like he did get kicked, he’s back up and about.

48’ - Harrison fouled by Mitchell, Garner puts it into the box, McNeil unable to control or shoot and now Harrison is booked for keeping the visitors from taking the freekick quickly after Eze was fouled on the counter.

46’ - Garner gets the second half underway.

45’ - DCL with a golden chance to make it two.. and it goes wide, argh.
There’s the halftime whistle, Everton lead 1-0 through a fantastic freekick from Andre Gomes who dusted himself off after getting fouled and put the ball into the back of the net off the post.

43’ - Eze makes a run and Virginia does really well to save from Mitchell! The corner is won by Andersen, but his volley then lands up in the upper tier of the Gwladys Street End.

40’ - Lerma brings down Gomes and he will be booked, the Blues have a freekick from a promising position, about twenty something yards out, a bit to the right.
Gomes to take, GOAL!!! Andre Gomes puts the Blues ahead with a magical freekick!! 1-0 to the Blues.

38’ - Groan goes around the ground as again Harrison overhits a pass.

35’ - It’s been all Palace in the last few minutes as the Blues seem out of ideas.
Onana fouled, and this is a chance for the Blues. Garner to take the freekick, overhit and the chance is wasted. Sums up our day so far.

30’ - Another shot for the visitors, this time Schlupp goes just over the bar.

28’ - Eze with a shot from distance, Virginia saves to his left. First save of the game for the backup goalie.

26’ - Garner messes up his chance as his ball goes between DCL and Harrison, and he finds neither.

22’ - Harrison fouled in the penalty area and the ref is not even interested! The crowd is losing their mind, surely VAR reviews this?
Wow, is this really not getting looked at? Nope it seems. Per the Everton commentary team no replays are being shown around the ground either.

17’ - Amadou Onana goes down with what he’s indicating is a head injury, but he seems to be okay.

16’ - Patterson again finds Dom over the backline, the striker wins a corner but it’s been rescinded as he was just offside.

13’ - Excellent control from DCL off a great ball from Nathan Patterson, fires off a narrow-angle shot that Johnstone saves, corner. Andersen concedes another corner.
Palace counter from this corner, and it ends up in a shot going over from Lerma.

10’ - Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s press is successful and he wins the ball off Schlupp, but Jack Harrison dallies on the ball instead of finding Gomes in the box right away.

7’ - James Garner runs into a cul-de-sac with a bunch of players around him, and then similar for Gomes.

5’ - Freekick to the visitors. Only partly cleared and now they concede another freekick in a more dangerous spot. Eze to take, and Jarrad Branthwaite takes care of the threat.

3’ - An early shot on goal from Andre Gomes, but it’s straight at goalie Johnstone.

1’ - Palace get the game underway.

This game is not being carried on any of the commonly known channels, so for now we’re going to have to do with audio commentary and we’ll try to keep this blog updated as well.

Starting Lineups

Everton - Seamus Coleman and Abdoulaye Doucoure faced late fitness tests, and both are out. Joao Virginia starts again in place of Jordan Pickford, with Nathan Patterson and Andre Gomes in. Dominic Calvert-Lewin keeps his starting berth.

Crystal Palace - Roy Hodgson goes with a full strength side.

The fixtures don’t let up for Everton as they host Crystal Palace tonight in a replay of their FA Cup Third Round from a couple of weeks ago. That game had ended 0-0 after Dominic Calvert-Lewin had been wrongfully sent off, a decision later reversed by the referee’s governing body.

Palace have been on their winter break and will use this game to warm up for their return to league action this weekend, while for the Blues this game will mark the beginning of their staggered intermission, with their next game scheduled to be at Fulham on Tuesday the 30th. However if the Blues do win tonight then they’ll take on Luton Town at Goodison Park in the Fourth Round, with the game likely to be brought forward to Friday 26th or earlier.

The lead-up to this game has been overshadowed by the double jeopardy situation brought forward against the club by the Premier League, who have chosen to charge them again with breaches of Profit & Sustainability Rules (PSR) despite having already deducted (appeal pending) ten points for this very charge earlier in the season.

The Toffees just sparred to a nil-nil draw with Palace at Selhurst Park. The Eagles haven’t enjoyed visiting Goodison in recent years, with that epic 3-2 comeback win for the Blues on the last day of the 2021-22 season, and then a 3-0 defeat early in the next season.
