Justice has been done on at least one front with Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s red card against Crystal Palace rescinded and the player’s subsequent three-match ban lifted. He will now be available for the Blues, starting with the home game against Aston Villa this weekend. [RBM]

Arnaut Danjuma’s agent Michael-Moses Jarman confirms that talks are underway with Ligue 1 side Lyon - “So yeah, there’s been interest and conversations ongoing with Lyon, it’s been reported in the media, that’s why I’ll confirm it.” [talkSPORT]

This group has been put together by a prominent sporting figure with a strong knowledge of Everton, and includes investors with a successful background in finance and a deep interest in sport.

It appears that there have indeed been two other groups of bidders interested in buying Everton aside from frontrunners 777 Partners. One US-based consortium recently withdrew from the race after readying an offer around the Christmas period. Another group remains in the race with the thought that 777 will yet still have their takeover bid rejected by footballing authorities. [Josimar]

He (Brands) wanted players which we felt weren’t the right fit for Everton, in the end we came to an agreement on the players we would pursue but this was a long and difficult process.

The Chairman (Bill Kenwright who passed away in October 2023) would often sit in at these meetings giving advice which we found strange as this was something I had not seen at other football clubs.

My father had grown increasingly frustrated with the business done in the January window that season and after a meeting with the Chairman at the end of the season we discovered that the club had very little to spend in the summer (2021).

We were also told this was something unlikely to change for a number of years, at this point I think my father had made his decision that this project was coming to an end.

Davide Ancelotti, son and assistant of Carlo Ancelotti has been talking to Spanish media outlet El Pais and tells some very interesting stories of the time he and his father spent on Merseyside.

Some more good news - Idrissa Gueye’s calf injury is not a major one and he was named to Senegal’s squad for the friendly against Niger yesterday. He will stay at AFCON with his national side however. [Echo]

How important has Abdoulaye Doucoure been just this season? Let the stats tell the tale.
