Fulltime Thoughts - Goodison slump? What Goodison slump? The Blues are finally gett8ing the results that their home performances have deserved, making it two straight home wins and three consecutive league victories, all clean sheets too.

90+8’ - There’s the final whistle, and Everton have won again, making it three straight league wins!!

90+5’ - Still Chelsea push, but nothing doing as Everton players are still throwing themselves in front of the ball like it’s a cup final.

90+1’ - Disasi gets his head on a deep cross, and McNeil will let the ball roll out for a corner. Garner inswinger, goalie punches clear, falls to Dobbin who slams his shot home through a crowd!! 2-0 to the Blues!!

89’ - Deep cross into the box, Patterson clears for a corner that the Blues can clear.
Seven minutes to be added on.

88’ - Mudryk skips past one then two but Tarkowski stops all that. Still Chelsea press. Cutback into the box, shooting chance, Onana flies across to block!

85’ - Onana strides forward with purpose, but a lazy ball across the midfield immediately puts the Blues under pressure again.
Dyche makes his last change, sending on Lewis Dobbin for the very tired Harrison who has had a good game again.

84’ - Looks like Sanchez can’t continue, and the goalie is replaced by Petrovic.

81’ - Everton are at full stretch here. Tarky blocks a Mudryk shot, corner. Only partly cleared and the Blues remain hemmed in.
Another corner to the visitors, Branth fouled and some respite for the home side.

79’ - Doucs dawdled on the ball for too long there and lost possession and Chelsea were away in a flash. A Myko intervention fell to Jackson but his shot was smothered and the Blues survive.

76’ - Harrison cross is met by Beto but he doesn’t make solid contact and Sanchez gathers gratefully.
Chelsea are camping in the Everton half, it’s on the Blues here to punish them for it.

74’ - The volume has gone up a few dozen decibels as the crowd are roaring the Blues on. Everton on the counter are the best chance of ending this game here.

69’ - Myko not only holds off Sterling but his sliding clearance comes off the former Red and goes out for a goalkick, huge roar of appreciation across the ground.

66’ - Chelsea pressing hard but a lucky bounce for the Blues means nothing comes of it. Double change for the visitors, with Broja and Enzo going off, Nicholas Jackson and Raheem Sterling on. Meanwhile, DCL is off too, with Beto on for him, his workrate will be needed here.

62’ - Chelsea are swarming the ball and Everton are having a hard time just retaining possession, giving up a series of fouls.

60’ - Chelsea sparked by the goal, and are pressing hard. Branthwaite late to a challenge and brings down Broja on the edge of the box. He’s booked, and that means he will miss Everton’s next game, Burnley away.
Palmer threads the freekick through the bottom of the wall straight at Pickers, who gets down low and gathers it at the second time of asking.

55’ - QUICK COUNTER AND A GOAL!!!!! McNeil cuts in from the left and slashes into the middle. He finds DCL whose shot is saved by Sanchez as the two collide, but here comes Doucure to slam home the rebound! 1-0 to the Toffees!

50’ - Ooh McNeil! Harrison finds his opposite winger in space at the edge of the box, McNeil controls and fires off a shot with his left foot headed for the far corner and Sanchez comes diving across to save!
The goalie makes a hash of the corner, parries it away to Myko who hits it first time with his weaker right foot and the ball goes wildly towards the corner flag.

49’ - Broja does well holding up the ball under pressure, cross comes in and the Everton defence cuts it out well.

47’ - A McNeil cross goes flashing through the box, no blue shirts near it unfortunately.

46’ - Second half underway. One change for the Toffees, with Amadou Onana on for Gana.

45+3’ - DCL first wins a throw and then a corner on the left. Garner takes, partly cleared, Myko puts the ball back in, Tarky heads back across goal and Chelsea clear, only for another corner.
Garner will take again, but before that Cucurella has gone down theatrically and ref Oliver is investigating. Nothing doing for the fullback and his drama. Chelsea hoof it clear, only for a throw. Patterson cross in, cleared and it’s halftime.

45’ - Four minutes to be added on.

43’ - Broja clattered by a heavy challenge in the middle from Patterson and is still down. Palmer’s deflected shot goes out for a corner. Takes it himself, low, Everton eventually clear.

41’ - Ashley Young is coming off, looks like he is in some pain, and is replaced by Nathan Patterson, like for like sub.

40’ - Long ball from James Tarkowski beats Cucurella and McNeil is away.. but the offside flag is rightly up.
Now Palmer with a shot from outside the box, and he hoofs it over.

37’ - The Toffees possession is down to just 27% now as they struggle to retain the ball outside their own half.
Mudryk’s low cross in is met by Broja who gets there ahead of Branthwaite, but it’s well wide.

34’ - Everton have gone back to the passive press, letting Chelsea come out to the edge of their defensive third before engaging them.

30’ - The long ball to DCL to hold up and introduce his teammates to the attack hasn’t quite worked off. Everton have been better progressing down the touchline so far, but then so have Chelsea.
Now Branthwaite is down holding his knee after a heavy collision with Palmer. Fingers crossed from Evertonians everywhere, the youngster has been spectacular this season. Also, Michael Keane is not on the bench, so Ben Godfrey is the only centrehalf available to the Blues. The icepack has been out, but the youngster is finally up and a ripple of applause goes through the ground.

27’ - Chelsea have been forced into making an injury sub with captain Reece James off, replaced by Levi Colwill.
Garner forced to concede a corner as Chelsea were progressing down the Everton left. Taken short and the Blues can clear.

25’ - McNeil cross cut out, falls to Harrison on the edge of the box and he lets off a swinging volley that goes just wide!

23’ - At a quarter mark of the game Everton’s possession is 35%, which is just about where the Blues at best at.

21’ - Dangerous move from Chelsea down their left after a quick switch, Mudryk’s low cross in is brilliantly defended by Branthwaite who puts it out for a corner that comes to nothing.

20’ - Palmer goes down in the box when Vitalii Mykolenko was nowhere near him, even kicked out a foot to make it look like contact, and then got back up when he realized how utterly stupid he looked. Booked by the ref.

16’ - Idrissa Gueye goes in the book for two quick fouls, hounding down Enzo who looked to have beaten the Everton midfielder.
Good pressure almost results in a shooting chance as Dwight McNeil’s cross goes over DCL but Harrison can’t control the ball.

14’ - Everton are playing their full-blooded press here, but Chelsea do have the passing quality and pace to break out and they do here, Branthwaite concedes a corner. Ball comes out to Palmer who fires off a great shot from distance, but Pickford is equal to it!

10’ - Harrison bundled over by the touchline by Cucurella, Everton freekick. McNeil inswinger, Sanchez scrambles it away and Chelsea can clear.
Broja and Branthwaite in a tussle for a long ball, the Everton defender gets the decision from ref Michael Oliver, rightly so.

9’ - Palmer’s cross headed out for a corner by Jarrad Branthwaite. Mudryk outswinger from the Everton left, Badiashile gets his head to it and over.

7’ - Jack Harrison open in space and puts in an early cross, just in front of an advancing Dominic Calvert-Lewin however.
Now another cross, this time from Abdoulaye Doucoure on the left, but Sanchez collects.

5’ - Both sides spraying the ball around early on. Enzo stings Jordan Pickford’s hands from distance, and then puts the rebound over.

1’ - Underway at a loud and raucous Goodison Park!

Starting Lineups

Everton - James Garner has recovered from his illness and starts, Amadou Onana is on the bench.

Chelsea - Armando Broja, Reece James and Conor Gallagher start, while Raheem Sterling drops to the bench.

Preview

Everton finally won successive games and with the quick turnaround between fixtures this week, they play again on Sunday afternoon this time at home against Chelsea. Despite the absence of James Garner and Amadou Onana the Toffees were still dominant against Newcastle on Thursday.

The visitors have had an up and down season, picking up more defeats than recent memory serves, but have showed up for the odd game here and there.
