There will be no European football next season for Everton after a 5-0 final-day thrashing at champions Manchester City ensured they finished in tenth place in the Premier League.
Richarlison’s winner against Wolves on Wednesday gave the Blues faint hopes of qualification, but they were well and truly extinguished on Sunday, which saw Carlo Ancelotti’s men take the biggest beating of his Everton tenure so far.
Geno and Matthew discussed both the Wolves win and City drubbing on the latest episode of SOS Radio, along with RBM’s Ian Decker. Matthew told the guys what it was like to be one of the 6,500 back inside Goodison Park for the Wolves game, while all three of the guys then picked the bones out of what went so horribly wrong at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
Ian, who also writes about Everton’s women’s team for the site, also filled us in on the similarly disappointing ending to their season, which Willie Kirk’s side finish in fifth place in the Women’s Super League and knocked out of the FA Cup by Chelsea last week. Ian also paid tribute to defender Ingrid Moe Wold, who is retiring after one season with the club.
