Everton got back to winning ways on Friday as they beat Arsenal 1-0 to record their first victory at the Emirates Stadium in their history.

The Blues were not at their best but defended solidly and made the breakthrough thanks to a comical Bernd Leno own goal in the 76th minute.

Geno was back to discuss the win with Matthew on the latest episode of SOS Radio. Together, they looked at whether Mason Holgate deserves more credit, if VAR was right to overrule Arsenal’s penalty, and what this means for Everton’s European ambitions on a weekend when results largely went the Toffees’ way.

They then previewed Everton’s next game, which sees them welcome Aston Villa to Goodison Park on Saturday at 8pm BST / 3pm ET.

The two sides have not yet faced each other this term due to a COVID outbreak in the Villa camp causing January’s reverse fixture to be postponed. So, what can we expect from Dean Smith’s side, who sit 11th after a 2-2 draw with West Brom on Sunday? Should Carlo Ancelotti stick with the same team? And how important is this game if Everton are to keep their season alive?
