Everton made it four straight league games without a win as they could only muster a dismal goalless draw at lowly Brighton & Hove Albion.

Their first 0-0 in the Premier League since August 2019, Carlo Ancelotti’s men managed only one shot on target at the Amex Stadium, when James Rodriguez forced Robert Sanchez into making a comfortable save on roughly the 70th minute.

The point keeps Everton eighth, meaning they lost further ground in the race for European qualification.

With Geno away, Matthew had the (dis)pleasure of discussing the draw with the Seagulls with RBM’s Brian Foley on the latest episode of SOS Radio. Together, they looked at whether Ancelotti could have done anything differently given Everton’s bench was made up almost entirely of youngsters, and where it leaves the Toffees in their quest for European football.

They guys then previewed Everton’s next match; the visit of Tottenham Hotspur to Goodison Park on Friday.

Jose Mourinho’s men sit one place and point better off than Everton (albeit having played a game more), but were poor in their 3-1 defeat at home to Manchester United on Sunday.

They’ve already lost to Everton twice this season, too, so is this win-or-bust for Everton as far as their European ambitions are concerned?
