Everton built a great last week by beating Southampton 1-0 at Goodison Park on Monday.

The edgy win was their first at home in the league since December, and moved them to within two points of West Ham United in fourth with a game in hand.

Geno and Matthew were joined by RBM’s Pat Mariboe to discuss Monday’s win on the latest episode of SOS Radio, including whether Everton, who had 47 per cent possession against the Saints, are better without the ball than with it.

They also discussed another stand-out display from both Jordan Pickford and match-winner Richarlison, at the glorious return to Everton’s midfield of Allan, whose 13 ball recoveries were more than anyone else on the pitch.

The guys also chatted developments on the new stadium after plans were unanimously approved by Liverpool City Council, Lucas Digne’s new contract, continued links with Norwich’s Max Aarons and Nikica Jelavic’s retirement.

They finished off by previewing Everton’s two matches in the next seven days; trips to Sam Allardyce’s West Bromwich Albion and Chelsea on Thursday and Monday respectively. Is there a big need for rotation given the quick turnaround? And what would be an acceptable points return for Everton?
