Everton’s deadline day signing Joshua King will wear the number 11 shirt for the club.

The Blues completed the signing of Norway international forward King from AFC Bournemouth for a nominal fee for the remainder of the 2020-21 season, with his current contract expiring at the end of this campaign.

Reports indicate that the 29-year-old has been offered a deal that allows for an extension upon expiry of this contract, with the player able to walk away a free agent this summer.

A transfer fee of up to £5 million has also been mentioned, likely pursuant to a number of conditions.

Everton’s new number 11 previously wore 17, 7 and most recently 27 for the Cherries.

This prestigious shirt has been recently taken by Everton players such as Theo Walcott, Kevin Mirallas and Denis Stracqualursi, as well as the likes of Pat Nevin, Kevin Sheedy and Trevor Steven before them.

King had a decent record against Everton for Bournemouth, netting five goals in ten games, including in last season’s final day 3-1 win for the Cherries at Goodison Park which could not save them from relegation.

He did not sign in time to be eligible for Everton’s matchday squad for tomorrow’s trip to Leeds United, but could make his Blues debut against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday night.

The Norway international scored 53 goals in 148 Bournemouth appearances following his move from Blackburn in the summer of 2015, though his only three strikes in 14 outings this term all came in the FA Cup.
