Your daily dose of Everton news and rumours
We’re into the second international break of the season, and this one is much-needed for the Blues who are hurting from a number of injuries to key players.
In fact, all the injuries mean there’s only three Everton players who will be representing their national senior teams during this break - Jordan Pickford, Yerry Mina and Lucas Digne.
Here’s a full schedule of who plays who and when for the break. [EFC]
Demarai Gray has been one of the signings of the summer (only rivalling Andros Townsend!), and he’s been enjoying the amount of trust and responsibility that Rafa Benitez has placed on his shoulders. [EFC]
One of our favourite features on the Everton YouTube channel is the ‘From All Angles’ segment that replays key moments from the game from a multitude of different cameras. A memorial plaque dedicated to the former England and Everton footballer Joe Mercer will be unveiled in November, and a star-studded cast of former Everton players will be attending, including Peter Reid and Graeme Sharp. [Chester Standard]
“We had him on our list. At the beginning of the transfer window, we inquired at United, then it was impossible. At the end of the window, I received a call from Guido Albers, his agent, that he might be loaned out after all. But at the last minute it was cancelled. stopped again.” - Director of Football Marcel Brands confirms that Everton had enquired about Donny van de Beek on loan over the summer while not ruling out another approach in January.
Finally a couple of transfer rumours originating from the publication that should not be named.
Apparently Arsenal are targeting Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin as a possible replacement for Alexander Lacazette. [Daily Mail]
Also, the Toffees and Tottenham are being linked with Stoke City’s 22-year-old central defender Harry Souttar who is being tipped for greatness. [Football League World]
