Everton at Manchester United: Predicted Line-Up | Gordon to Start?

How will Everton line-up at Old Trafford?

Despite a mixed couple of weeks, only one team (yes, that one, unfortunately) has more points than Everton as we approach matchday seven.

Unfortunately, the toughest test of the season so far awaits, as the Blues head to Old Trafford with a severely depleted squad for Saturday’s early kick-off.

However, if the Blues are to manage to pull off an unlikely win at Old Trafford, it would put them top of the table for a couple of hours at least.

Who’s Out?

The Blues remain light up top, with Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin set to miss out once more, although it shouldn’t be long until the pair return. It’s the same story for Seamus Coleman.

Andre Gomes has also been ruled out of this trip to Manchester, while Alex Iwobi is a doubt. Jean-Philippe Gbamin is available once again and will probably make up numbers on the bench.

Tactics and Formation

With Ben Godfrey (or possibly Mason Holgate) set to line-up on the right-side of the defence, it seems unlikely the Blues will opt for a back three/five with a true right wing-back lacking (unless Rafa fancies Jonjoe Kenny for this one).

Therefore, we can expect a compact 4-2-3-1, led by a largely uninspiring Rondon up top. Hopefully the big Venezuelan can find some form and fitness soon, otherwise we’ll be counting down the days until Richie or DCL return.

With Alex Iwobi possibly out, a rare start for Anthony Gordon may be on the cards, unless Rafa opts for more bodies in midfield, in which case Tom Davies will mostly likely get the nod. We’ll also see a good chunk of young blood on the bench once again, too.

Starters (likelihood of starting rated out of 10)

Jordan Pickford – 9/10

Ben Godfrey – 8/10

Lucas Digne – 10/10

Yerry Mina – 9/10

Michael Keane – 8/10

Allan – 10/10

Abdoulaye Doucoure – 10/10

Andros Townsend – 9/10

Demarai Gray – 10/10

Anthony Gordon – 6/10

If Iwobi is unavailable, Rafa will likely turn to Anthony Gordon or Tom Davies to fill in. Gordon would likely start on the left with Gray playing through the middle, or if Rafa wants more bodies in midfield, Gray would return to the left flank as Davies assists Doucoure and Allan.

Rondon – 8/10
