It was the worst possible start to 2021 for Everton, as they lost a fifth New Year’s Day game in a row in defeat at home to West Ham on Friday.

It ended the Blues’ second four-game winning run of the season, which Matthew and Geno had the displeasure of discussing on this week’s episode of SOS Radio, along with RBM’s Pat Mariboe.

As well as dissecting the West Ham debacle, they also discussed how urgent the need is for Everton to recruit in January, whether Gylfi Sigurdsson deserves the new contract he will reportedly be offered, and if Sami Khedira would be a sensible addition to Carlo Ancelotti’s midfield.

They rounded off by previewing the visit of Rotherham United to Goodison Park in Saturday’s FA Cup third round tie. How much should Ancelotti rotate? How important is this game to Everton’s season? Should Dominic Calvert-Lewin start to try and help get him back among the goals?
