NOTE: There will be no live blog for the game today, but a recap piece will follow soon after completion of the game.

The lineups are out, Richarlison is on the bench and no one can quite make head or tail of this lineup past that it looks like a three-man backline, wingbacks and.. a false nine?

At least, this is what the BBC think it is.

Preview

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Everton have played four times since their return to the top flight, with the former recording two lopsided wins in that span, both of which were marked by some of the most disappointing performances we have seen in recent times from a number of Toffees.

Today’s clash at Molineux has all the hallmarks of another one of those limp, lifeless showings with the Blues coming off two flat performances in a loss against West Ham United and a narrow win over Championship strugglers Rotherham United.

Minus Dominic Calvert-Lewin and possibly Richarlison, and Allan’s industrious presence in the middle not expected back before the end of the month, Carlo Ancelotti is going to have a hard time putting together a side that can play coherent attacking football while repelling the threat of a pacy Wolves outfit.

Wolves themselves have been pretty spotty this season with injuries forcing Nuno Espirito Santo’s hand, and only have one win their last five league games. Still, the West Midlands side tend to turn on the style whenever they play the Toffees.

Last Meeting

The Blues last traveled to Molineux during the Project Restart phase of last season in July, and were spanked soundly 3-0. The less said about that game the better, because three goals really did not reflect the hosts’ superiority in this clash.
