Everton got their first win of 2021 at the second attempt on Saturday, as they toiled to a 2-1 extra time FA Cup win over Rotherham United at Goodison Park.
It means the Blues have reached the fourth round of the competition for just the second time since 2016, and Matthew and Geno had the discussed the game in depth on this week’s episode of SOS Radio, along with RBM’s Brian Foley.
As well as dissecting the Rotherham win, they also discussed this week’s transfer news, including whether Everton should cash in on free-scoring Moise Kean at PSG, and if a swap with Roma involving Bernard and Robin Olsen makes sense.
They rounded off by previewing Everton’s two Premier League games this week - away matches at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday, and then at Aston Villa on Sunday, though there is strong talk that the Villa clash might be postponed further with the hosts still struggling with COVID positives in their squad.
Should Lucas Digne go up against Adama Traore again? After what Matthew Olosunde did to him over the weekend that might be strongly advised against. And do Everton need to win these kind of games to be serious about European ambitions?
