Everton have completed the signing of attacking midfielder James Rodriguez from Real Madrid in Spain, and the player will be wearing the #19 shirt for the Toffees.

Rodriguez wore the coveted #10 jersey at Porto between 2010-13, keeping that for this sole season in France at AS Monaco. At the Bernabeu, he retained the number on a star-studded side before switching to #11 for this two years in the Bundesliga. Back at Real last season, he wore #16.

The 29-year-old from Colombia will be joining his countryman Yerry Mina at the Blues and his former manager Carlo Ancelotti from Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. After joining the Toffees, Rodriguez said -

“I’m a winner… a real winner. I like to win things and I’m convinced we can have a great season.

“I know we have a very talented squad, full of top players, and, I think, with the additions we’re making during this transfer window, it’s going to make us even stronger.

“Carlo Ancelotti was very keen to bring me here and has worked hard to bring that about.

“Now it is down to me to perform well, to play well, to bring my A -game to this club and bring that winning mentality, to make sure everyone in the Club believes we can win trophies.

“That is what we will be striving for.

“It is very good to feel wanted.

“You feel that desire even more to perform at your highest level all the time to repay that confidence and faith.

“I realise people have put a lot of effort into trying to sign me.

“I play very much for the rest of the team and work hard for the side.

“I am capable of creating goals and scoring goals.

“I hope to bring a bit more quality and maybe get the side playing more football.

“But, most importantly, I want to win things and I am convinced this club can do that.”

The #19 shirt at Everton is actually signed out to Niels Nkounkou, but has a bit of a checkered past as well with the Blues - Djibril Sidibé (19/20), Oumar Niasse (17/18 - 18/19), Enner Valencia (16/17), Gerard Deulofeu (15/16), Christian Atsu (14/15), Magaye Gueye (10/11 - 13/14), Dan Gosling (09/10), Nuno Valente (05/06 - 08/09), Nick Chadwick (04/05), Joe-Max Moore (00/01 - 01/02), Abel Xavier (99/00), John Oster (97/98 - 98/99), Marc Hottiger (95/96 - 96/97), Stuart Barlow (93/94 - 95/96),
