Napoli midfielder Allan is edging closer to a move to Everton after arriving on Merseyside for a medical.

Several news outlets are now reporting that the 29-year-old Brazilian has touched down in England to put the final touches on his move from Serie A, with fans grabbing video and pictures as well.

There have been wildly different reports about the fee, though a figure in the region of £22 million has been mooted with around £4.5m in bonuses and add-ons.

That would represent a significant reduction in the £35 million Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis was apparently demanding at the start of the summer, and way below the £45m PSG were apparently willing to pay last winter.

Allan is expected to sign a three-year deal worth a reported £70,000 per week including bonuses, which would put around halfway up the wage bill.

If everything goes to plan with the medical then Allan could make his Everton debut in their final pre-season game of the summer against Preston on Saturday.

He would immediately plug a yawning gap in the centre of Everton’s midfield, meaning he is all but certain to be pitched straight into the starting XI for the season opener against Tottenham on September 13, if deemed fit enough.

It is also hoped the Brazilian will be the first of three new arrivals before the start of the campaign.

Real Madrid forward James Rodriguez is reportedly next to undergo a medical on Merseyside as talks continue with the Spanish giants.

The Colombian has just one year left his contract at the Bernabeu, with speculation suggesting the Toffees will sign him on a one-year loan with the obligation to pay Real a fee next summer (and thus easing the immediate financial burden).

The club are also in talks with Watford over a deal for Abdoulaye Doucoure, with the Hornets keen to take a player on loan as part of the deal.

We hope that isn’t the end of their summer shopping either, with cover needed in both full-back positions as well as another senior goalkeeper to put pressure on Jordan Pickford.
