“Going once, going twice, SOLD! Premier league and EFL match worn shirts up for auction now!”
With Remembrance Day approaching, football fans will have the unique opportunity to obtain an unrivalled fan item whilst showing their support for those who served the country through Match Worn Shirt. As in recent years, clubs and players across the Premier League, Championship, League One and League Two will wear a poppy on their official match day kit that will be worn for the games in the lead-up to the Remembrance weekend. What’s more, the shirts will be personally signed by the player, making it the ultimate piece of memorabilia.
With this annual event, football clubs across the country rejoice in raising vital funding and awareness for the work of The Royal British Legion. The money raised helps provide essential support to members of the armed forces community who made a sacrifice - both physically and mentally - serving their country. The Legion is the country’s largest Armed Forces charity but is completely dependent on the generosity of the public. It is their aim to provide lifelong support for both serving and ex-serving personnel and their families.
Everton wore their poppy shirts for the trip to Newcastle last weekend, and will don new poppy kits again on Saturday for the visit on Manchester United. These shirts, embroidered with the national symbol of remembrance and hope, are not only highly unique pieces of memorabilia, but also provide a helping hand to some of the most vulnerable within our society. Find out on the Who We Are page about what The Legion do and how your contribution will have an impact. The Proof of Partnership page is also linked.
The shirts will be placed on auction live from kick-off and will be available to fans across the globe. In times where supporters cannot get close to football, this is the perfect opportunity to bring a piece of the match to them. To mitigate any potential health risk, all shirts will be professionally disinfected using UV-C light before being shipped to the winner. This will preserve ‘match worn’ elements like mud and grass stains, but will eliminate traces of DNA, bacteria and virus.
Getting involved could not be simpler. Just head over the Match Worn Shirt - Everton page to bid on shirts from the Newcastle game, and for the shirts to be worn against Manchester United bidding will open once the match begins.
Get bidding and good luck!
