It was a disappointing for Everton, as their unbeaten start to the season came to an end with a 2-0 loss at Southampton on Sunday.
Geno and Matthew dissected the defeat on this week’s episode of SOS Radio, including whether Lucas Digne deserved his red card and whether Alex Iwobi deserved his starting role on the left-wing.
The guys also questioned if the decision to replace André Gomes with Gylfi Sigurdsson in midfield paid dividends, and if now is the time to give Anthony Gordon a starting berth with Richarlison still suspended for the next two matches.
There’s then a preview of the Blues’ trip to Newcastle this Sunday, which inexplicably coincides with the women’s team’s FA Cup final with Manchester City.
Assuming Digne’s red isn’t rescinded, is it time for Niels Nkounkou? Should Gomes come back in to the fold? And what of Newcastle, a team with plenty of exciting attacking talents but who seem to spend most of their games defending for their lives?
All of this and more was discussed on this week’s podcast, which you can click here to listen to. Alternatively, SOS Radio is available on iTunes, Spotify, or Stitcher, and generally wherever podcasts are available.
