Everton Women bounced back to winning ways today beating Reading 3-1 and leapfrogging their opponents in the Women’s Super League (WSL) table.
There’s just something about Chloe Kelly where she somehow returns from injury even better and more fierce than before. It’s really quite something!
Here she is in her first game back after picking up a knock in training and you wouldn’t have guessed it because she went and scored three goals in 65 minutes against a team that Everton lost to back in October.
New signing Izzy Christiansen was once again not in the lineup and specific injury updates are not very common in the WSL but she did state in a post-game interview that she thinks she will be “back soon, in a few weeks, hopefully.”
Sandy MacIver got her first start in goal after recently joining the Toffees, proving that manager Willie Kirk really puts a lot of trust in the 21 year old keeper who just graduated from Clemson University in the States. The only goal conceded came from a Fara Williams penalty kick after former Blue Angharad James was fouled.
Kelly started the scoring early with cool finish for her 1st goal:
