Everton at West Ham: Writer Prediction League

Meet the new boss, same as your old boss

After what we’ll call an interesting week last week, Everton’s match against Brighton & Hove Albion over the weekend managed to reset things to a relative sense of normal at the club.

Sure, injuries are still flying all over the place, but the Toffees got the result they needed against a less-talented team, which is what most of the next month’s worth of fixtures consists of — beginning this week with West Ham United.

Before we look ahead to the match against the Hammers though, let’s take a final look at the outcome from the Brighton match, and our predictions for it.

Brighton Predictions

Writer First Scorer Everton MOTM Winner Score Points
Writer First Scorer Everton MOTM Winner Score Points
Adam B. Walcott Walcott Everton 2-1 2
Brian F. Calvert-Lewin Calvert-Lewin Everton 2-1 2
Brian L. Calvert-Lewin Richarlison Everton 2-0 3
Calvin Richarlison Richarlison Everton 3-1 4
Chris 0
Geno Calvert-Lewin Calvert-Lewin Everton 2-1 2
Matt A. Calvert-Lewin Mina Everton 2-1 2
Matthew C. Calvert-Lewin Mina Everton 2-1 2
Pat Kean Sidibe Everton 3-0 2
Pete Richarlison Richarlison Everton 2-0 4
Rachel Calvert-Lewin Calvert-Lewin Everton 1-0 4
Tom Richarlison Calvert-Lewin Everton 2-0 3
Zach Calvert-Lewin Calvert-Lewin Everton 2-0 2

It was a big week for quite a few writers. Three of the group picked up four points on the week, with Pete in particular tantalizingly close to a perfect week.

On the whole, three writers correctly had Richarlison opening the scoring, while another three correctly had him as man of the match. All participating writers correctly predicted an Everton win, while just Rachel had the final score right.

As a result, we’ve seen a bit of a shuffle near the top of the prediction league standings.

I remain atop the table, but Rachel has shuffled a little bit closer to the top of the leaderboard. Pete’s midseason resurgence continues, with him now in a tie for fourth and just eight points back of the leader.

This week, our writers will do their best to earn more points when Everton visits David Moyes and West Ham United. The Hammers are struggling right now (I mean, obviously, given that they just hired David Moyes), but Everton faces something of an injury crisis heading into this one.

The result is that our group is still pretty confident in Everton’s chances, but cautiously so.

West Ham Predictions

Writer First Scorer Everton MOTM Winner Score Points
Adam B. Walcott Walcott Everton 2-1 0
Brian F. Calvert-Lewin Calvert-Lewin Draw 1-1 4
Brian L. Calvert-Lewin Calvert-Lewin Everton 2-0 0
Calvin Kean Kean Draw 2-2 2
Chris Kean Kean Everton 2-0 0
Geno Calvert-Lewin Bernard Everton 2-0 0
Matt A. Calvert-Lewin Richarlison Everton 2-1 0
Matthew C. Calvert-Lewin Keane Everton 2-1 0
Pat Calvert-Lewin Calvert-Lewin Everton 2-1 0
Pete Calvert-Lewin Sidibe Everton 1-0 0
Rachel Calvert-Lewin Calvert-Lewin West Ham 2-1 0
Tom Calvert-Lewin Bernard Everton 2-1 0
Zach Calvert-Lewin Calvert-Lewin Everton 2-0 0

Only Rachel has West Ham taking all three points in this match, while Brian F. and Calvin foresee a draw. The rest of our writers have Everton taking a rare three away points.

The likely absence of Richarlison due to injury has made Dominic Calvert-Lewin a popular man to open the scoring, leading the way with eight votes. Moise Kean, the Brazilian’s likely replacement, grabbed a few of the remaining votes.

The man of the match voting is a little more scattered, but Calvert-Lewin leads the way there as well.
