Everton vs Brighton and Hove Albion: Writer Prediction League

The Toffees may just be facing the right opponent at the right time

Let’s be clear here — after the events of Sunday and this week, Everton could really use a win to get a few more positive vibes around a club that feels like its solely a negative entity right now.

Last week’s 1-0 loss to essentially a Liverpool youth side was an embarrassment, and one that’s led to uproar among supporters and players alike. There’s no cure like winning, and a visit from Brighton & Hove Albion this week gives Everton a pretty good shot to do just that.

Before we look ahead to predictions for that match though, we are forced to take one final look at the Liverpool fiasco.

Liverpool Predictions (FA Cup)

Writer First Scorer Everton MOTM Winner Score Points
Writer First Scorer Everton MOTM Winner Score Points
Adam B. Origi Pickford Liverpool 1-0 5
Brian F. Mane Calvert-Lewin Liverpool 3-1 2
Brian L. Richarlison Mina Draw 1-1 0
Calvin Firmino Kean Liverpool 3-1 2
Chris Origi Kean Liverpool 3-1 2
Geno 0
Matt A. Mane Calvert-Lewin Liverpool 3-1 2
Matthew C. Origi Mina Liverpool 2-1 2
Pat Mina Mina Everton 2-1 0
Pete Mane Mina Liverpool 1-0 4
Rachel Mane Calvert-Lewin Liverpool 3-1 2
Tom Calvert-Lewin Calvert-Lewin Everton 2-1 0
Zach Calvert-Lewin Calvert-Lewin Everton 2-0 0

None of us were happy with the Liverpool result, but perhaps Pete and I were the least disappointed, as we each correctly picked the final scoreline. Another six writers correctly had Liverpool winning, but by the incorrect score.

None of us had Curtis Jones opening the scoring (obviously), and only I had Jordan Pickford correctly tabbed as the Everton man of the match.

With that five-point week, I’ve extended my lead atop the prediction league table.

Pete’s big week launched him firmly into the middle of the pack, while the rest of the upper echelon is still chasing me.

Our writers shouldn’t get their hopes too high on making up ground this week, as you’ll notice our picks for the Brighton match are largely similar.

All participating writers have Everton winning this week (historically not a great sign for Everton’s chances, mind). 2-1 is the most popular scoreline (five votes), with 2-0 close behind (four votes).

Dominic Calvert-Lewin dominates the opening scorer column, which contains only Everton players. He picked up seven votes, while Richarlison has the next-most with three. Theo Walcott and Moise Kean each also garnered a vote.

The man of the match predictions follow suit, with DCL earning five votes and Richarlison again in second with three. Yerry Mina got two votes, while Walcott and Djibril Sidibe each received one.
