During the January window teams hunt for players they can add to immediately improve their squad without losing money in a window notorious for bad deals.

However, sometimes the best additions to the squad are those returning from injury (they’re already paid for!), and it appears Everton are about to benefit from the return of a number of key contributors.

First off, Carlo Ancelotti addressed the somewhat miraculous recovery of Andre Gomes, who was injured in November by a cyncial tackle against Spurs.

At his press conference today, Carlo Ancelotti announced that Andre Gomes will return to Finch Farm next week to resume individual training.

We don’t have (any new) injuries, but the injured players are the same. Gomes is training individually- his recovery is going fast.

After last week’s disastrous FA Cup Anfield Derby, the Blues are due some good news and the return of Gomes would bring class back to an Everton midfield in dire need of it. The Portuguese midfielder, while the most notable, is not the only player who is at the edge of a return.

Jean- Phillipe Gbamin and Alex Iwobi are also training individually and could return to the side in the near future.

Gbamin is working alone in this moment during individual sessions. Same as Iwobi.

With Cenk Tosun already on his way to Crystal Palace, and more sure to follow his path out the door, news of imminent reinforcements should slightly raise the droopin heads of Everton supporters.
