Some interesting info from the ever reliable Paul Joyce. As well as confirming the Iwobi deal is on he also revealed that Everton only ever made one bid for Zaha last month and were never going to go above £60m. So all speculation about further bids had nothing to them.
Alex Iwobi fee around £35million.
— paul joyce (@_pauljoyce) August 8, 2019
Everton only made one bid for Wilfried Zaha of £52m which was rejected on July 28. Would have only gone to £60m anyway and Palace wanted more. Refused to do Marcos Rojo on a permanent.

Right at the bell, Everton have signed Alex Iwobi! Not a loan, outright signed.

However there is some possible good news, at least for the forwards.
Update from @AdrianJKajumba and it looks like Everton have a breakthrough on Alex Iwobi: no details of fee as yet but the indications are that he will move to Goodison Park today

What’s this? Per Sky Sports, the Rojo deal is off. Word is that United wanted only a permanent transfer, while the Blues dug in saying they wanted him only on loan.

Give us something Everton! And right on cue here it is, but it’s not what you were looking for Blues.

Some outgoing player news now, interest in Muhamed Besic.
Besic possibly going to Fulham or Sheff Utd, obviously prefers to stay in the Premier League if he can.

BREAKING NEWS - ZAHA STAYING AT CRYSTAL PALACE
Sky Sports News reports that Wilfried Zaha is staying at Crystal Palace, seemingly ending any hopes of Everton signing him before the deadline.
The striker handed in a transfer request yesterday but haven’t budged on their valuation of the 26-year-old. With less than 90 minutes to go until the deadline Everton now have precious little time to bring in the forward player Marco Silva wanted.

The Daily Mail - yeah, we know - is reporting that Everton have moved on from Wilfried Zaha in order to chase PSV Eindhoven winger Steven Bergwijn.
Everton turn attention to Holland winger Steven Bergwijn after failing to land Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha https://t.co/29SeAW1DVi
— MailOnline Sport (@MailSport) August 8, 2019
I’d be surprised if Brands has truly moved on from Zaha already considering how intensely Everton have pursued him these last few days, but a deal for Bergwijn would surely be much easier to get across the line, considering Brands’ relationship with PSV. The 21 year old had 14 goals and 12 assists last year, a good return in any league.
1:25PM BST
Sky Sports just reported from Finch Farm, mentioned that they’re expecting Rojo to arrive anytime.
No word on Zaha from Sky, though we’ve read other reports that while he didn’t train with the senior side, he did train on his own in the gym.

Rojo update! And it’s not one many Blues are going to like.

Marco Silva worked with Rojo at Sporting Lisbon, so maybe there’s something he sees worth salvaging in the 29-year-old, but this doesn’t look good for Brands’ transfer window plan or greater transfer strategy.

ZAHA UPDATE!
Sky Sports News report that Wilfried Zaha did not train at Crystal Palace this morning and isn’t at the training ground. Does that mean he is on the move? We can only hope - SSN also say that Everton are currently the only side in for him at present.

We read this morning that Everton were considering a move for Manchester United’s Marcos Rojo. Well, Sky Sports - via Alan Myers - reports that the Toffees have opened talks with United over a permanent deal for the Argentine. Yep, not a loan, a permanent deal for the 29-year-old.
It doesn’t really make any sense given our transfer policy but suggests the club are pretty desperate after the Zouma pursuit fell through.
Discussions are ongoing between Manchester United and Everton over Marcos Rojo in a permanent deal.
— Alan Myers (@ALANMYERSMEDIA) August 8, 2019
The talks follow Everton’s failed attempt to get Rojo’s United team-mate Chris Smalling on loan.
11:50AM BST
Just over five hours to go and Sky Sports on their Deadline Day show mentioned Nathan Ake as one of the centrehalves the Blues could be interested in.
Apparently the Cherries want £75 million for him, so it’s pretty doubtful that ends up happening this late in the window.
11:20AM BST
You have to laugh sometimes on Deadline Day, and here’s a good one. For context, Paulo Dybala’s proposed move from Juventus to both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur has fallen through due to ‘image rights’.

Remember Memphis Depay? Well, according to the Mail Everton turned down the opportunity to sign him after the Lyon winger was touted to clubs across Europe. Depay was previously linked with the Toffees before he made the move to France from Manchester United in January 2017. Brands of course knows Depay very well from their time together at PSV Eindhoven.
All the eggs are rapidly falling into the Wilfried Zaha basket.

The fire alarm has just gone off at Finch Farm! It’s not because Zaha has been confirmed though! Seems like it was a false alarm and everyone has trooped back in.

Everton are preparing to make a fresh bid for Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi, according to the Mirror. The Toffees had a £30m offer turned down yesterday with the Gunners looking for around £40m for the 23-year-old. Iwobi isn’t pushing for a move but would be willing to leave if Arsenal decide to let him go. Reports yesterday suggested that Everton were looking to sign Iwobi as well as Wilfried Zaha, rather than instead of.

It looks like Everton’s hopes of signing Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori on loan are over. Simon Johnson of the Standard reports that the Londoners are not willing to let the youngster leave with David Luiz close to completing a move to Arsenal.
Stating the obvious under the circumstances, but #Tomori will no longer be leaving #Cfc on loan. Am told a switch to #efc was at an advanced stage but collapsed due to #Luiz. Great opportunity for 21-year-old now though who is highly-rated by #Lampard https://t.co/q4jYiuEGaX

If Everton fail to land Wilfried Zaha then a potential alternative could be PSV Eindhoven winger Steven Bergwijn, according to Football Insider.
Marcel Brands is a big admirer of Bergwijn having worked with him at PSV so is ready to make a move should the Toffees’ bid for Zaha break down. Watford FC are also linked with him in case their first target Ismaila Sarr doesn’t work out.

I can’t say I’m not surprised with this link - the Daily Mail reports that Everton are considering a bid for Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo.
The Red Devils have been left with eight centre backs following Harry Maguire’s arrival so they will be looking let a few go before the deadline. Everton, after admitting defeat in their pursuit of Kurt Zouma, had a loan offer for Chris Smalling turned down yesterday so look to have simply worked their way down the list.
Not really a deal to set the pulses racing...

As an Everton fan you should be positively giddy with excitement today.
Despite talk earlier in the summer that the necessary targets had been identified, once again the Blues have kept all their transfer activity late, right to the wire actually. A big part of that might be because Marcel Brands has had a difficult time in convincing other football clubs to pick up our garbage.
Everton’s main needs today are an experienced centreback, am incisive wide forward and possibly another midfielder. We’ve already been linked with a number of players in each of those categories yesterday, with Chris Smalling, Fikayo Tomori, Wilfried Zaha, Alex Iwobi, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Morgan Sanson the latest names mentioned.
