Everton midfielder Inessa Kaagman has been serving as an unused substitute for Netherlands so far in the World Cup and we hope that changes soon because she was the Blues’ top goalscorer in the just-ended WSL season.
The Toffees today announced that Kaagman’s Netherlands teammate, Kika Van Es, will be joining the Blues on a two year deal! Defender Van Es played for Ajax, which is where Kaagman played previously to joining the Toffees.
Van Es, 27, was part of the Dutch squad that won the European Championship in 2017.
Her journey to the World Cup included dressing up as a boy so she could play football in her youth:
Netherlands face Sweden in their semi-final on Wednesday and while the Swedes shocked the world by beating Germany, the Dutch have the player with the most goals in the WSL ever, Vivianne Miedema, and now two Everton players so it’s safe to say the Oranje are going to win!
The winner of this game goes on to play defending World Cup champions USA who beat England yesterday on Sunday.
