Another day, another twist gets added to this Wilfried Zaha to Everton rumour.

The latest amendment reported late yesterday by the Daily Mail is that now Everton have upped their interest in the Crystal Palace forward, throwing in James McCarthy along with Cenk Tosun plus about £60 million to try and push through the transfer.

Less than a week ago the London side had reportedly put in a firm offer of £8 million for the Republic of Ireland international, with the Blues turning them down. Adding him to the player package is apparently a ploy to get the Eagles to possibly acquiesce on letting Zaha go.

Steve Bruce at his new job as Newcastle manager is apparently also interested in McCarthy, but there has been nothing for the last couple of weeks.

As far as this chatter around Everton’s interest in Zaha, like a good number of the Blues fanbase a couple of Sky Sports reporters think that the player and his representation are using Everton to leverage his dream transfer to Arsenal, his boyhood club.

Per Kaveh Solhekol -

“I do think Zaha is willing to play for Everton if a fee can be agreed but the ultimate question is what will Arsenal do?

”The information we are getting is that Arsenal will make another bid for Wilfried Zaha. He is Unai Emery’s number one target and that’s not changed.”

From Dharmesh Sheth -

“Now it is thought he would consider Everton if they could get a deal together.

”I just wonder if this is Zaha aligning himself with a club who he believes can get a deal done, or perhaps it’s him welcoming Everton’s interest to give Arsenal a nudge.

”It might be him saying it’s still his dream to play for Arsenal but they’re not getting the deal done... it might just give them the hurry up.”

Sounds like there’s still more drama to come on this one.
