Netherlands play Canada on Thursday for their third World Cup game in the group stage. Everton midfielder Inessa Kaagman has been serving as an unused substitute for the Dutch in in their first two games, which both resulted in a win.
Netherlands and Canada will be competing for the top spot in Group E and it’s time to start Kaagman because she has proven herself as Everton’s top goalscorer. Canada’s Christine Sinclair is quite the goalscoring threat herself and is close to tying retired American striker Abby Wambach’s record of most international goals ever.
And while Netherlands foward Vivianne Miedema rightfully receives tons of accolades for becoming the top Netherlands and WSL goalscorer, Kaagman deserves a shot on the World Cup stage for impressing even while finding ways to score during a difficult season.
Here are 3 of Kaagaman’s best goals of the season, all evidence towards starting her on Thursday:
1.
WOW! Kaagman's finish that gave @EvertonLadies the lead but @LiverpoolFCW have already equalised!
