There have been plenty of German sides looking to English clubs to restock their youth pipelines in the last couple of years, and Everton have already experienced this sending Ademola Lookman out to RB Leipzig on loan, and then having to endure at least a couple of transfer bids for the player too.
Now it appears another Bundesliga side is knocking on the door for a young Evertonian. Sky Sports are reporting that Schalke 04 have some interest in taking Jonjoe Kenny on loan, while Premier League teams Burnley and Crystal Palace are also hovering.
Marco Silva has previously hinted that he is ready to send Kenny out on loan after the 22-year-old struggled for regular action last year, making just 13 appearances in all competitions.
Seamus Coleman snatched back his starting XI spot late in the season with a series of strong performances, but the Blues are rumoured to be looking for his long-term replacement this summer as well.
Among the names mentioned so far are Chelsea’s Reece James and Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka, both of whom are highly coveted both in England and abroad, and the Blues will face a challenge grabbing either.
Mason Holgate is also due to return after a productive loan spell in the Championship at West Brom. It remains to be seen though whether Holgate’s long-term future is at right-back or in the centre.
