Everton face fresh competition for Thomas Meunier with reports Atletico Madrid have entered the race for the PSG full-back.

A report from Le 10 Sport claims Atletico are ready to make an offer to the 27-year-old Belgium international who is due to hold talks with PSG officials over his future.

Meunier has previously spoken of his desire to remain in the French capital but it’s reported that PSG are looking to sell the defender this summer.

Everton are on the hunt for a right-back to provide cover for Seamus Coleman with Jonjoe Kenny expected to go out on loan next season.

Meunier would add talent and experience to the squad, but at 27 he falls outside of the age profile Marcel Brands is looking to recruit. But with the former Club Brugge defender about to enter the final 12 months of his contract Everton may be able to secure the defender for a knock down fee, making the deal a lot more palatable.

However, the Toffees are likely to face stiff competition to secure Meunier’s signature. As well as Atletico, the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United have been linked with him in recent months.

Brands and Marco Silva will have to put forward a compelling case if Meunier is to be persuaded to move to Goodison Park.
