Your daily dose of Everton news and rumours

With Tom Davies’ new contract comes many questions and concerns about Everton’s midfield for next season and beyond. Everton could very well be without Idrissa Gueye and James McCarthy next season, along with André Gomes if a deal for the on-loan midfielder is not made with Barcelona. That would leave Davies and Morgan Schneiderlin holding the midfield for the Blues (gulp).

However, impressive loan spells in the Championship for Kieran Dowell and Joe Williams could very well find them fighting for a spot in the first-team next season. Meanwhile, fellow on-loan Championship midfielders Muhamed Bešić and Beni Baningime will not have similar fates, with both players unlikely to feature in the squad next season.

After handing in a transfer request in January, could the strong finish to the season entice Idrissa Gueye to stay? And will Everton come out triumphant in what is likely to be a bidding war for André Gomes this summer? We will have to wait and find out.
