April was a month of highs and lows for Everton, who took seven points from four games, scoring five goals in that time.

Both Arsenal and Manchester United were comfortably put to the sword, but the 2-0 defeat at relegated Fulham between those terrific home wins was as perplexing as it was disheartening.

The Toffees ended April with a 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace, in a game where they had more than enough chances to claim maximum points.

Here are the pick of the strikes from the boys in royal blue this month:

Honourable Mentions

Inessa Kaagman v Birmingham City - The Everton Ladies team don’t often have much to talk about as they hover around the Womens’ Super League relegation positions, but midfielder Kaagman has scored some delightful goals this season, including an important one this weekend against Reading for a crucial three points.

However, this effort from a tight angle gets her into our list here for April’s Goals of the Month.

Richarlison vs Manchester United - Dominic Calvert-Lewin latched on to a trademark Lucas Digne long throw, and the man who has now established himself as Marco Silva’s first-choice striker nodded on to Richarlison, who fired home acrobatically.

The Brazilian still had a great deal to do as he received the ball on the edge of the six-yard box, but his scissor kick was perfectly executed and simply too powerful for the helpless United goalkeeper, David de Gea.

This was the 14th goal of the season for a man who, despite having a fair amount of critics at times this term, has enjoyed an excellent campaign at Goodison Park.

Runner-up: Lucas Digne vs Manchester United

A wonderful finish from the Frenchman, who has quickly established himself as one of the best left-backs in the Premier League, if not the best.

Digne watched the ball all the way following de Gea punching clear an Everton corner, before lashing an unstoppable half-volley through a crowded penalty area and past the statuesque Spaniard to put the Toffees three ahead shortly after half-time.

It ensured that Digne, who has proved incredible value for money as an £18 million signing from Barcelona last summer, kept up his record of all of his Everton goals coming from outside the box. This was his fourth of a season which will likely see him named the Blues’ player of the year.

Winner: Gylfi Sigurðsson vs Manchester United

For the third time this season, the Icelandic midfielder takes this prize.

Like Richarlison, Sigurðsson also notched his 14th of the campaign in the United trouncing, but few have felt quite as satisfying as this.

This was Sigurðsson at his best, picking up the ball midway through United’s half, forcing Nemanja Matić to simply back off and retreat, before arrowing a 25-yard strike into de Gea’s bottom-right corner.

Some have suggested the United keeper could have done better, but that would be extremely harsh on Sigurðsson, who has rediscovered his form of late after a difficult spell over the winter months.

With two games of the season left, at home to Burnley on Friday and away to Tottenham Hotspur on May 12, Silva’s men and Willie Kirk’s ladies side have only 180 minutes left to stake their claim for the goal of the season accolade.
