I cannot think of a time since we started doing a prediction league here at RBM that the predictions for an upcoming match were so...well...predictable.
The combination of two major factors — Everton’s beatdown of Arsenal last week and Fulham’s absolutely atrocious form — has never quite come together in this way, at least as far as I can remember.
That combination of Everton’s red-hot form and the completely uninspiring performance of Fulham feels like it sets up for what should be an easy match — though you can never be sure with Everton. Before we look ahead to that match though, let’s close out on the home victory over Arsenal.
Arsenal Predictions

Adam B. | Aubameyang | Calvert-Lewin | Draw | 1-1 | 0 |
Brian F. | Richarlison | Digne | Arsenal | 2-1 | 0 |
Brian L. | Calvert-Lewin | Richarlison | Draw | 2-2 | 0 |
Calvin | Richarlison | Gueye | Draw | 2-2 | 0 |
Chris | Mkhitaryan | Calvert-Lewin | Arsenal | 2-1 | 0 |
Geno | Richarlison | Digne | Arsenal | 2-1 | 0 |
Matt A. | Lacazette | Sigurdsson | Draw | 2-2 | 0 |
Matthew C. | Richarlison | Bernard | Draw | 1-1 | 1 |
Pete | Richarlison | Richarlison | Everton | 2-1 | 2 |
Rachel | Aubameyang | Gueye | Arsenal | 2-1 | 0 |
Sean | Richarlison | Gueye | Everton | 2-0 | 2 |
Tom | Bernard | Bernard | Everton | 2-1 | 3 |
Zach | Aubameyang | Gueye | Arsenal | 1-0 | 0 |
For the third straight week, optimists were most rewarded — meaning that we didn’t see a whole lot of correct predictions! Tom won the week by predicting both an Everton victory and a man-of-the-match performance from Bernard. Only Matthew C. and Pete also picked up points.
The points output was so underwhelming, in fact, that there was no change in anyone’s position in the prediction league standings.
Prediction League Table
Writer | Points |
---|---|

Calvin | 64 |
Rachel | 56 |

Matt A. | 51 |
Pete | 50 |
Brian L. | 49 |
Tom | 49 |
Matthew C. | 46 |
Brian F. | 45 |
Zach | 44 |
Tom closed the gap on next-to-last place with his three points, but nothing else changed in a meaningful way.
That brings us to this weekend — an away match at an already-relegated team that has a chance to end the season with a historically bad defense. As you might expect then, our writers foresee goals in this one.

All of our writers have Everton winning and scoring at least two goals — not a bad guess given that Fulham have given up at least two goals in every Premier League match since December 29 and haven’t won a Premier League match since January 29.
