Despite the fact that April Fools Day is now well-behind us, it really is no surprise that preposterous transfer rumours about the Everton team are taking flight especially with the Toffees enjoying a purple patch in recent weeks.

Many Blues will remember how hard French giants Paris St Germain came for Idrissa Gueye over the January transfer window, supposedly making a couple of formal offers while convincing the player’s camp that the move was in his best interest.

Everton stuck to their guns at the time, claiming that the supposed £25m and £30m bids made were lower than their valuation of the player. Since then, the Senegalese international has expressed his disappointment, but then like the consummate professional he is, has put those thoughts aside and worked harder at making himself even more indispensable to Marco Silva. His partnership with Andre Gomes over the last half a dozen games has been nothing short of terrific, with the pair harrying opponents, winning the ball, and distributing it with a breathtaking finesse.

Which then brings us to this morning’s report from the Evening Standard claiming that not only are Manchester United interested in Gana, but that Everton are also willing to part with him for less than £30m!

So let’s get this right - Everton fought off Paris St Germain, did not budge on the price even as the player appeared to plead for a move, but now at the end of the season will sell one of the strongest candidates for ‘Player of the Season’ and a player at the peak of his powers for a paltry sum of less than £30m to a league rival they are hoping to overhaul next season.

Who do the media think is running the show at Everton, Sam Allardyce? Daffy Duck?

That’s all folks.
