Everton host Liverpool today in the 233rd edition of the Merseyside Derby, with the visiting Reds needing a win to regain top spot in the Premier League and the Blues trying to remain relevant in the race for seventh.

As is his wont, Jurgen Klopp has had plenty to say about the game and the Blues perspective coming into the derby, while Marco Silva is not backing down either. It will be interesting to see the Toffees’ approach in this game after playing an open-style game has only lead to losses against top six opponents earlier this season.

Last Meeting

The lesser said about it the better. The Blues had put in one of their better performances at Anfield for a few season, but still came away empty-handed following a horrible error from goalkeeper Jordan Pickford in time added on.

Last season this fixture was a pretty dull affair with Sam Allardyce in charge, with the game ending 0-0 and Big Sam (believe it or not) claiming the win on ‘away goals’.. *eye roll*
