New suitor identified for Everton midfielder

While it wasn’t necessarily on display this week in the Champions League, Olympique Lyonnais’ midfield is much-coveted throughout Europe and in particular Tanguy Ndombele.

The 22-year-old is widely considered to be one of the best upcoming talents in the game and despite Barcelona running riot and dumping Lyon out 5-1 over two legs yesterday, interest in Ndombele has intensified.

Both Manchester City and Manchester United are considered to be favorites to land the player, along with leading lights like Barcelona and Juventus interested, as well as our own humble Everton.

With Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas now saying he is looking to strengthen the club’s financial position with a £70m pricetag on the midfielder, Buzzsport.fr (via Inside Futbol) are claiming that the Blues’ Idrissa Gueye is being tagged to replace him.

The Toffees spent most of January fending off Paris St Germain who had made a couple of approaches for the Gana, and the player has indicated that he would be happy with a move to a Champions League club sooner than later.

Lyon sit in third place in the Ligue 1 table and are fighting with fourth-placed Marseille for the final Champions League qualifier spot, and should they make it, the Blues can expect a big bid incoming for Gueye to possibly rival PSG if they are still interested in the summer.
