Everton vs Wolves: Writer Prediction League

In search of the mythical winning streak

With a win against Huddersfield Town on Tuesday, Everton now approaches this weekend’s match against Wolverhampton Wanderers with a potentially renewed sense of purpose.

The loss to Millwall in the FA Cup was soul-crushing, but a combination of advantageous results has put Everton in a spot where it can jump into seventh place — and the potential Europa League spot it holds — with a win this weekend.

There are plenty of discussions to be had in the coming weeks about the value of the Europa League and Everton’s chances in it, but there’s little doubt that it’ll be Everton and Marco Silva’s goal the remainder of the season.

Before we look ahead to this potentially key match, let’s take a quick look back at our writers’ predictions from the Huddersfield match midweek.

Huddersfield Predictions

Rachel Richarlison Pickford Everton 1-0 6
Sean Richarlison Gomes Everton 2-1 3
Tom Tosun Tosun Draw 1-1 0
Zach Sigurdsson Sigurdsson Everton 1-0 4

Seven writers correctly predicted an Everton victory, with Rachel and Zach getting the score right as well.

Five writers also had Richarlison opening the scoring. Jordan Pickford was voted man of the match, giving Rachel a perfect six-point week!

That success helped contribute to a shake-up at the bottom of our standings, though the top still looks more or less the same.

The even-on-paper nature of this match means that it could be another big week for movement in our standings — take a look at our predictions for the Wolves match.

Wolves enter the match in decent form, coming off a 3-0 victory over West Ham United on Tuesday. That form, and the spotty form of Everton, has our writers lacking any real confidence in the Toffees ahead of the match at Goodison Park.

The opening goalscorer and Everton MOTM categories are a little more widely spread than usual — six different players got votes for the former, with seven garnering votes for the latter.
