While Duncan Ferguson has been installed as Everton’s caretaker manager on a game-to-game basis, the search for the next permanent manager appears to be continuing in the background.

As each day since the sacking of Marco Silva has passed, a new candidate seems to have appeared and disappeared, either through their own disclosure of no interest, or else through the media and betting agencies finding the newest shiny rumour.
