Two Scotsmen head coaches are making headlines at Everton these days and one just won an award for Manager of the Month— Willie Kirk!
November was a historic month for Everton Women, having won all of their league games, including beating Liverpool at Anfield in front of 23,500 fans, to sit in fourth place (and currently at fifth place).
According to Everton.com, Kirk accepted the award with the squad and staff and gave them a lot of the credit:
“We have got a lot of expertise in the backroom staff and I try to give them accountability and responsibility to do what they are good at. The backroom staff help to make sure everyone is together and it is a very well-oiled machine.”
Kirk took on a team that had been in the relegation zone at times last season and things looked pretty bleak but that didn’t stop him from having ambitious goals. Recruitment was very important to him and he was able to change half of the lineup by bringing in some impressive new players.
He has also fought tirelessly for the women’s team for new amenities for the players like access to a recovery pool and physiotherapy and more meals provided by the club.

Now that Everton is performing well, Kirk believes this will help him with future recruitment, including during the winter transfer window. He told Everton.com:
“I’ve been vocal since the start of the season that we want to finish in the top half. That’s still the case and we have put ourselves in a very good position to do that. We’ve given ourselves a great position to build on in the second half of the season.”
Congrats to Willie Kirk and staff!
Everton take on a very tough Arsenal side at home on Sunday at 12:30 pm GMT and can be viewed on the FA Player app.
