In what was probably the most predictable thing that’s happened to Everton this season, the Toffees drew equally struggling Tottenham Hotspur 1-1 at Goodison Park last weekend. Bad = bad, eh?
What does that mean for this weekend, when the Toffees travel to Southampton? Well, the jury is still out on that. Sure, Southampton has been downright bad for long stretches this season, but Everton doesn’t win matches away from Goodison Park.
What’s the opposite of what happens when an immovable object meets an unstoppable force? We might find out on Saturday.
But before we look at our predictions for that match, let’s review our predictions from the Tottenham match.
Spurs Predictions

Tom | Richarlison | Iwobi | Draw | 2-2 | 2 |
Zach | Son | Davies | Spurs | 2-1 | 0 |
No one had Dele Alli opening the scoring, nor Cenk Tosun being named man of the match (go figure), so no points to be awared on that front. Matthew C. and I both had the draw and final score correct, while Geno and Tom got the outcome right, but the final score wrong.
That leaves us with a prediction league table that I’m quite pleased with.

I’ve opened up a five point lead on Rachel atop the table, while Matthew C. has pushed himself firmly into the upper tier. Most of the middle of the table remains pretty tightly contested, so our writers will be looking to the Southampton match as a chance to move ahead.
Let’s take a look at our picks for that one.

The majority of our writers have Everton picking up a rare road victory — seven have the Toffees on top, four predicted a draw, and two predicted a Southampton victory.
Richarlison remains the most popular choice as the opening goalscorer, notching seven votes. Interestingly enough, only two other players received any votes at all — Theo Walcott received four, while Danny Ings got two.
Man of the match voting features a slightly wider spread. Tom Davies and Lucas Digne each for four votes, with Walcott, Richarlison, Alex Iwobi, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and Yerry Mina all receiving one.
