Everton’s December was far busier than their November, and unfortunately the results were worse, too. They won one match out of seven and have begun a tumble down the table after playing so well in in the previous two months. With that in mind, the player rating scores over the festive period were considerably lower on the whole, but one individual still stands out as the Blues’ player of the month.
Community Player of the Month
With an aggregate rating of 6.68 over seven matches, Lucas Digne is the player who earned the highest overall score from December. Buoyed by a 9.19 rating against Burnley, the Frenchman has arguably been the best left back in the Premier League this season. If fatigue is setting in, you can hardly tell.
RBM Player of the Month
It’s Digne. We’re not blind here in the Royal Blue Mersey newsroom.
Honorable Mention
There’s only one option for this section, and it’s Idrissa Gueye. In large part, it’s not because of the games he did play, either, but the ones he missed. Everton’s midfield and defense were largely out to sea against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City - both games Gana missed. On his full return against Leicester City, Gueye was imperious. The Senegalese midfielder is as crucial as ever. Buzz off, PSG.
