Yannick Bolasie might have terminated his loan at Aston Villa to return to Everton, but it appears his stay at Goodison Park might be very short-lived.
As many astute Evertonians have observed, it’s very unlikely the Blues would have allowed the winger to return to the Blues unless some other deal was already in the works for him. Marcel Brands’ master plan has been to not just lighten the club payroll, but to actually remove names from it - so if there are potential suitors out there looking to outright purchase deadweight, then loans be damned.
It does appear though that Crystal Palace are interested in loading up for their relegation battle by bringing Bolasie back to Selhurst Park, according to Football Insider. Talismanic forward Wilfried Zaha has primarily been used as a striker this term and the London side could use some winger depth, and who better than Bolasie who was much-loved by the fans in his four years with Palace.
The 29-year-old’s season-long loan at Aston Villa was terminated earlier this week after manager Dean Smith felt he wasn’t getting enough bang for the buck for £70,000/week the Midlands side were paying for, with Bolasie making nine starts in 21 appearances with two goals and five assists.
Bolasie had an unremarkable stint at Everton, missing over a year with an unfortunate cruciate ligament injury, and is unlikely to recoup even half of the £25 million the Blues spent on him in Ronald Koeman’s heyday, but at this point Brands will likely take whatever he can get.
