Everton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has been tipped for a transfer to AS Roma during the January transfer window.

Both the Daily Mail and Italian publication Corriere dello Sport report that Schneiderlin, 29, could be in line for a move this month to Eusebio Di Francesco’s side, currently sixth in Serie A.

It has been a tough season for the Frenchman; he started Everton’s first two league games but suffered an injury against Southampton in August and has failed to win his place back since.

Coupled with the excellent form of fellow central midfielders Idrissa Gueye and André Gomes, Schneiderlin has been limited to nine first team outings this term.

With manager Marco Silva seemingly also preferring Tom Davies as a midfield option, Everton are said to be happy to let Schneiderlin leave for a cut of the £22 million they paid for him from Manchester United in January 2017.

Schneiderlin enjoyed an excellent start to his Blues career under Ronald Koeman, but was often singled out for criticism in last season’s difficult campaign, and was famously booed when introduced as a substitute in a home game against Crystal Palace in February.

His appearance from the bench against Tottenham Hotspur last month was his first game time since the victory at Leicester City in early October.
