Your daily dose of Everton news and rumours

The UEFA Nations League got underway yesterday with games across all four leagues. Among the more prominent scorelines were Wales spanking Seamus Coleman’s Republic of Ireland 4-1, with Germany and France playing to a 0-0 stalemate.

If you missed what the tournament is, here’s a primer for you, and also what it means for Euro 2020 qualification.

In England U-21 action, Dominic Calvert-Lewin got the start, and promptly missed two chances in the opening minutes in a 0-0 draw against Netherlands while Scotland won 3-0 with a hattrick from Under-23’s striker Fraser Hornby. [RBM]

Morgan Schneiderlin had some nice things to say about DCL, and also about his own key role in Marco Silva’s system. [EFC]

Central defender Yerry Mina wasn’t always a centrehalf, instead using his lanky frame quite differently early on. [Liverpool Echo]

The NFL season kicked off last night, and things could have turned out very, very differently for kicker Josh Lambo had he signed on when offered an Everton contract by David Moyes a decade ago. [EFC]

The Premier League’s 2018-19 kits are actually for the most part pretty good-looking, and made (mostly) even better with the addition of classic sponsor logos. [talkSPORT]

What To Watch

More international action today in both the Nations League and a whole complement of friendlies as well. Italy vs Poland is the big one while Cenk Tosun will be in action for Turkey against Russia. Among the friendlies are Scotland against Belgium, USA host Brazil (Antonee Robinson and Richarlison are both expected to play), and Mexico vs Uruguay. Full schedule of matches here.

In the US Open, the men’s semifinals are on with Rafael Nadal playing Juan Martin del Potro and Kei Nishikori against Novak Djokovic.
