Marco Silva had talked about his interest in getting involved with some of the pioneering work that Everton in the Community (EitC) does, and he got his first chance to do that yesterday. The manager helped inaugurate the Blue Base, a converted function centre for the less fortunate fans to be able to enjoy the Toffees’ games near Goodison Park. Read more here. [EFC]

Finally some competitive football! In the Nations League tournament there’s a number of games but World Cup flops Germany versus World Cup winners France sounds like a tasty fixture.

There are some friendly games too, with Portugal vs Croatia the pick of those. There are a number of Evertonians involved with the England U-21 side that plays Netherlands in a qualifier. Full schedule of matches here.

In the US Open, the women’s semifinals take center stage with Serena Williams taking on Anastasija Sevastova and Madison Keys playing Naomi Osaka.
