Everton have confirmed the signing of Brazilian forward Bernard in a deal that has taken everyone by surprise.
The 25-year-old has signed a five-year deal at Goodison Park to become Marco Silva’s fourth signing of the summer after the arrivals of Richarlison, Lucas Digne and Joao Virginia.

News broke out of nowhere on Monday evening that Bernard had agreed to join the Toffees, beating the likes of West Ham, Chelsea and AC Milan to his signature.
The winger had been previously linked with the Blues when it looked like the Ukrainian side’s manager Paulo Fonseca would be taking over at Goodison Park.
The winger was a free agent after leaving Shakhtar Donetsk at the end last season following the expiry of his contract.
It is believed a personal intervention by Toffees boss Silva was key in persuading Bernard to join the club.
The Brazilian has 14 caps for the Selecao.
