Everton signing Mina continues to hinge on United

Barcelona look like pushing for the highest bid despite the player’s wishes

Yerry Mina is not at training this morning with Barcelona. Like with Lucas Digne, he’s likely being given the day off to sort out personal terms, but who with?

Just when it was looking like it was finally all done bar the official announcement, there’s been another twist in the tale, again.

As of Sunday evening it looked like Everton and Barcelona had come to an agreement over a transfer fee for Yerry Mina, and all that remained was to sort out personal terms and the Blues would have their centreback.

It appears that is exactly what happened on Monday while the player reported back to preseason camp in Barcelona from his holiday after the World Cup, with the Toffees offering the virtually-untested Mina a handsome pay package.

However, according to Spanish daily Sport, Manchester United have now lodged a slightly larger bid than the £28.5m Everton offered, and the Catalonians are rethinking their agreement with the Blues.

Separately, Sky Sports are reporting that United have rejected a player-plus-cash offer of £45m plus Mina and Andre Gomes from Barca for World Cup-winning midfielder Paul Pogba.

Will that deal falling through finally convince Barcelona to let go of Mina so that he can join Everton? Let’s see what today brings.
