Cenk Tosun has been unfortunate to not score yet this season, but Everton manager Marco Silva insists that the striker has been on good form and the goals will come.

The Turkish forward has played his heart out but is yet to add to the five goals he scored last season while the Blues have been getting the goals from wingers Richarlison and Theo Walcott in Silva’s 4-3-3 system.

Speaking to evertontv however, Silva insisted that Tosun’s workrate was invaluable -

“Yes, for sure [I like seeing that level of application from my players]. That is what we are building. It is part of our process. When you do not have the ball, every player has their role.

“Cenk knows his role. And after that… I want him ready to score, if he has the chance – and to be creating chances for others to score. This is most important for me and he is trying to do everything I am asking.

“He did well against Southampton. I know all our strikers want to score and sometimes are not happy when they do not – but he has to be happy.

“I know, and he knows as well, he has some things to improve. But he deserved everything our fans gave to him.”

Tosun has had four shots in the two games so far, with three on goal as well as an assist and a key pass. He was quite sharp in the preseason scoring an excellent goal against Valencia so you know the goals are just around the corner for him, maybe he’ll bag a couple this weekend at AFC Bournempouth.
