Everton central midfielder Joe Williams is reportedly close to joining Bolton Wanderers on loan.
Williams, who is yet to make an Everton first team appearance but has been named as a substitute five times, has been with the club since the age of seven, and was part of David Unsworth’s Premier League 2 title-winning side of 2016/17.
He enjoyed an excellent spell at Barnsley last year, despite their relegation from the Championship; he made 38 appearances for the Tykes and was an ever-present up to November.
His only goal, a long-range strike at Burton Albion, won the goal of the month award for October. A rumoured £1 million bid for the youngster from the Oakwell club was rejected by Everton in January [HITC].

His time at Yorkshire was curtailed in April due to a muscle injury, but having returned to full fitness over the summer, Williams looks on his way to another spell in England’s second tier with the Trotters [Football Insider].
Several Championship clubs have apparently been keen on Williams this summer, including Bristol City, Birmingham City and Hull City, but the player appears destined for a move to the Macron Stadium.
With the Blue further strengthening their options in the middle of the park with the loan signing of André Gomes from Barcelona, a temporary move for the highly-rated Williams looks his best hope for first team football this season.
