Aston Villa eye Bolasie transfer, winger can’t seem to make up his mind

Any day now, Yala.

Everton winger Yannick Bolasie has had a bit of a strange summer. Yala’s post-injury form (well, lack thereof) and the arrivals of Richarlison and Bernard meant that his services were no longer needed at Goodison Park.

The player clearly was angling for a move that would allow him to stay in the Premier League. Bolasie preferred a return to Crystal Palace, but Burnley also expressed some interest. Neither of those deals came to fruition, and the window summarily closed.

Next up was Middlesbrough and a reunion with Tony Pulis. Bolasie even traveled to Boro’s training ground, but it appears now that a new option is on the table - Aston Villa.

It would be ideal for Everton if either Boro or Villa offered a deal that included a buy option, but it seems unlikely given that Bolasie is on exorbitant wages at Everton. Either way, the clubs involved are running out of time to get a deal over the line, and it seems like the Congolese winger has been a little indecisive.

You do have to feel bad for Bolasie. He’s not put a foot wrong at the club in terms of attitude or work-rate, and the devastating injury was obviously not his fault. Prior to tearing his ACL, Yala had formed an excellent understanding with Romelu Lukaku, but Rom was sold before Bolasie returned.

Upon his recovery from injury, Yannick was welcomed by a manager who didn’t know which direction the net was in, and a team that was in disarray. Unfortunately, he no longer has the quality to make it into Everton teams these days, and so, he needs to go. If narrating old highlights of himself at Crystal Palace last night on Instagram Live is any indication, Yannick Bolasie just wants to play some football. Good luck, lad - we wish you well.
