Late in Saturday’s draw at Molineux against Wolves, Everton debutant Richarlison went down with an injury. He’d been the star of the show, and taken a preposterous amount of fouls - called or not.
Marco Silva’s decision to remove the Brazilian from the game was a prudent one - Lucas Digne came on for a few minutes to lock down the point, and there was no sense risking your best player on the day in the first match of the season.
Thankfully, word comes via the Mirror today that Richarlison’s injury is not serious, and he should be available to start against Southampton at the home opener on Saturday.
However, the good news for Everton is that Richarlison’s injury problems are not thought to be serious.
Everton are hopeful that Richarlison will be back in Premier League action next week despite limping out of the draw at Wolves. The Brazilian is expected to be in contention to start in their first home clash of the season against Southampton.
The match against Saints should be quite a scene - any number of the Blues’ new boys could debut, and the home supporters will be raring to back the side after a strong performance against Wolves.
