Everton have had a number of their early 2018-19 fixtures switched to accommodate live coverage on UK TV.
Their opening match of the season against newly-promoted Wolves will now kick-off at 5.30pm on Saturday August 11 for live coverage on BT Sport.
The Toffees’ home game against West Ham at Goodison Park has been pushed forward 24 hours and will now be played on Sunday September 16 at 4pm BST with live coverage on Sky Sports.
Later that month the trip to the Emirates Stadium to face Arsenal has also been pushed forward 24 hours to Sunday September 23, again with a 4pm kick-off, to accomodate Sky Sports.
Both matches were memorable last season - for very different reasons. The match against West Ham in November was David Unsworth’s final game in charge before handing over the managerial reigns to Sam Allardyce.
Allardyce watched from the stands as Wayne Rooney scored a hat-trick in a 4-0 win, including one strike from inside his own half.
The trip to Arsenal meanwhile was utterly abject and miserable. The Gunners were 4-0 up at half-time before completing an embarrassingly one-sided 5-1 victory and Ronald Koeman sacked soon after.
Everton’s match against Chelsea Saturday November 10 will also be moved to the Sunday due to the Londoners’ Europa League participation with kick-off TBC.
Like last year the 2018-19 Premier League season will start on a Friday night with 2016 champions Leicester travelling to Old Trafford to face Manchester United.
Arsenal’s game against champions Manchester City is the standout fixture of the weekend and is unsurprisingly being shown live on Sky Sports on the prime-time 4pm Sunday slot.
Tottenham’s trip to Newcastle and Liverpool against West Ham will also be shown live on the opening weekend.
